HEALTH & WELLNESS AMONG GEN X
Generation X grew up among social changes and the shift from analog to digital technology. Popular forms of exercise during their youth included aerobic videos, jogging, stationary bikes, and racquetball. Since then, the health and wellness sector has evolved rapidly. In this second annual report, Mather Institute conducted an in-depth look at the health and wellness of members of Gen X, focusing on wellness trends, wellness technology, and wellness in the workplace.
This Year 2 report draws data from a nationally representative sample of 2,520 members of Generation X (born between 1965-1980) as well as 2,517 members of the baby boomer generation.
IN THIS REPORT YOU’LL LEARN:
- Gen Xers’ interest and participation in wellness trends, and their use of wellness technology compared to boomers.
- What areas of life are contributing to the greatest amount of stress for Gen X.
- Gen Xers’ experiences with workplace wellness initiatives, and how employers can align wellness offerings with this generation’s needs.
IMPACT OF WELLNESS TECHNOLOGY
Nearly all Gen Xers in this study indicated that physical activity and healthy eating are important for living a long life. Almost two-thirds of Gen Xers indicated that wellness technologies have been beneficial for their health and wellness (62%).
